“Can’t tuk tuk with a strike rate of 112-115”, former Indian captain advises Babar Azam to retire

Krishnamachari Srikanth says Babar Azam should retire from T20 cricket. Many veteran cricketers around the world believe that Babar Azam is an excellent player in ODI and Test cricket, but his batting does not suit the T20 format. Former veteran cricketer and Indian team captain Krishnammachari Srikanth also has a similar view. He says that Babar Azam should retire from T20 cricket as he is not a T20 player. Srikanth said in clear words that, ‘Babar cannot do tuk tuk in T20 cricket with a strike rate of 112-115.’

Babar’s bat was tight in the T20 World Cup

Pakistani fans had high expectations from Babar Azam in T20 World Cup 2024, but he flopped miserably there. His poor performance can be gauged from the fact that he played a total of 4 matches for the green team in the T20 World Cup. During this time, only 122 runs could be scored in 4 innings.

Babar Azam scored 44 against USA, 13 against India, 33 against Canada and 32 not out against Ireland. His strike rate remained below 100 during this period.

Babar Azam’s T20 career

Currently, Babar Azam is the first batsman to score the most runs in the T20 format. But here his strike rate is quite slow. He has played a total of 123 matches for the green team so far. Meanwhile, he has scored 4145 runs with the bat in 116 innings at an average of 41.03. His strike rate here is 129.08, which is very reasonable considering the format.
