All Central Government officers, employees and pensioners, who draw salaries based on the 7th Pay Commission, are eagerly waiting for the revision of Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief, which may be finalized soon. In the recent Lok Sabha elections 2024, the ruling Narendra Modi government at the Center has received a mandate for the third time in a row, and as per the rules, the dearness allowance and dearness relief are to be revised (DA increase) from July 1. Although it is traditionally announced in September-October, the hike will be applicable from July 1, 2024 itself, and the arrears from this date till the time of announcement will also be given to all officers, employees and pensioners.

The central government revises dearness allowance and dearness relief twice a year, effective from 1 January and 1 July, although the revisions are usually announced in March and September-October. Earlier, in March 2024, DA of central employees was increased by 4 percent, after which all central government employees across the country are getting 50 percent dearness allowance.

The basis for the revision of DA by the government is the latest inflation data and if we look at the latest data at this time, it seems that the government has been increasing DA by 4-4% continuously for quite some time now. , this time too DA will increase by at least 4 percent. A strong possibility of an increase in DA and DR after the release of new All India Consumer Price Index data cannot be ruled out at all.

Now even if this announcement is made in September or October, it will be implemented from July 1 as usual and also all employees-pensioners will be given arrears from July 1 till the time of announcement.

If the increase is 4 percent, let’s see how much each salary earner will get monthly and annually based on the 7th Pay Commission. Government employees whose basic pay is Rs. 18,000 will get an increase in dearness allowance by 4 per cent or ₹ 720 per month, taking their annual benefit to ₹ 8,640. Similarly, employees whose basic salary is ₹20,000 will get a benefit of ₹800 per month and ₹9,600 per year. Similarly, if the basic salary is ₹25,000, the increase will be ₹1,000 per month and ₹12,000 annually.

Similarly, if your basic salary is ₹30,000, this benefit will be ₹1,200 per month and ₹14,400 per annum. If the basic salary is ₹40,000, the monthly benefit of DA will be ₹1,600 and the annual benefit will be ₹19,200. Similarly, those earning a basic salary of ₹50,000 will get a benefit of ₹2,000 per month and ₹24,000 per year.

If the basic salary is ₹60,000…?

Government employees whose basic pay is ₹ 60,000 will get a benefit of ₹ 2,400 per month and ₹ 28,800 per year with a DA increase of 4 per cent. Those with a basic salary of ₹70,000 will get a benefit of ₹2,800 monthly and ₹33,600 annually. If your basic salary is ₹80,000, this benefit will be ₹3,200 per month and ₹38,400 per annum. Similarly, those with a basic salary of ₹90,000 will get a benefit of ₹3,600 per month and ₹43,200 per year and those with a basic salary of ₹1,00,000 will get a benefit of ₹3,600 and ₹1,00,000 per month. You will get a benefit of ₹4,000 and ₹48,000 per month after a 4 percent increase in dearness allowance.

If the basic salary is more than ₹1,00,000…?

Similarly, those with a basic salary of ₹1,25,000 will get an increase of ₹5,000 per month and ₹60,000 per year, and those with a basic salary of ₹1,50,000 will get an increase of ₹6,000 and ₹72,000 per month. The benefit will be available every year after this increase. Those earning ₹1,75,000 will get ₹7,000 more per month and ₹84,000 per year, and those with a basic salary of ₹2,00,000 will get ₹8,000 more per month and ₹96,000 per year after this increase. Government officials whose basic pay is ₹2,25,000 will get a benefit of ₹9,000 per month and ₹1,08,000 per year due to the 4 percent DA increase. Similarly, top executives with a basic salary of ₹2,50,000 will get a benefit of ₹10,000 monthly and ₹1,20,000 annually.

DA grew by 33 percent in two and a half years…

It may be noted that before the spread of the coronavirus and its related disease Kovid-19, till December 2019, all officers and employees drawing salary based on the 7th Pay Commission were getting dearness allowance and dearness relief at the rate of 17 percent. But after that three times i.e. for one and a half years there was no improvement or increase in dearness allowance due to Kovid-19 and till June 2021 all officers and employees were getting only 17 per cent dearness allowance.

Then after the outbreak of Covid subsided, in July 2021, the dearness allowance was increased from 11 percent to 28 percent, and then again in October 2021 it was increased by 3 percent, and this increase was also implemented from July 1, 2021, so , as a result, all central officers and employees get 31 percent DA on pay and pensioners get it from July 1, 2021 itself. After this, the dearness allowance was increased by 3 percent in January 2022 as well. As a result, all central officers, employees and pensioners started getting 34 per cent dearness allowance. Then, in July of the same year, the DA was increased by 4 percent, and the DA rose to 38 percent. Since then, DA has been increased by 4 percent each time in January, 2023, July, 2023 and January, 2024, as a result of which all central officers, employees and pensioners are currently getting dearness allowance and dearness relief at the rate of 50. is percent.
