New Delhi. Actor Prateek Gandhi is doing back to back films these days and the actor is also winning the hearts of the audience with his films. These days, Prateek Gandhi is getting appreciation for his work in the streaming film ‘Dedh Bigha Zameen’. The film is based on prevalent social evils like dowry and land grabbing. Recently the actor talked about working in this film based on social issues. Meanwhile, he also expressed his opinion on social evils like dowry.

In ‘Dedh Bigha Zameen’, Prateek plays a man who has to sell his ancestral land to pay the dowry for his sister’s marriage. The actor told IANS, ‘There are some issues like dowry, which no one is willing to talk about openly. People may think that dowry is only a problem in rural areas or small towns, but it is not. Only its name has changed. We still see this in big cities.

Pratik also spoke about the continuation of female feticide in some parts of the country and stressed the need for strict punishment. He says, ‘We did a play about 7-8 years ago on the issue of female foeticide. The play was about the soul of a girl, who comes on stage and wishes to be born in India, but no one gives her a chance to be born. All these issues harm our society and need strict action by law.

He said, ‘People who fall victim to or become part of such bad practices have somehow accepted it as a normal thing, ‘that’s just the way it is’. We have to face this problem first and make people aware that this is not normal.
