Former opener Gautam Gambhir is in the race to become India’s next head coach. According to media reports, BCCI’s Cricket Advisory Committee interviewed WV Raman along with Gautam Gambhir for the post of national team head coach on Tuesday. Gambhir’s tenure as the Indian coach could be from July 2024 to December 2027. Gautam Gambhir answered for the first time on the question of becoming the head coach on Friday. However, he has said that he is not looking forward and is enjoying his current success.

All I can say is that I am happy right now, having just finished an amazing journey and enjoying it. I am very happy right now.”

It is believed that before the final announcement, Secretary Jai Shah will brief members about the coach selection process. CAC is also interviewing some interested candidates for the post of selector from North Zone. Gambhir, 42, recently led Kolkata Knight Riders to the IPL trophy as the team’s mentor. He will replace Rahul Dravid who will step down after the conclusion of Team India’s World Cup campaign.
