In Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), applications are being invited for admission in about 300 academic programs through Open and Distance Education (ODL) and 45 programs in online mode for July-2024 academic session.
Under this one can apply for admission in all Post Graduate, Under Graduate, PG Diploma, Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Certificate, PG Certificate and Awareness programs.
IGNOU has facility of registration in January and July admission sessions. Its courses are useful for students who for some reason cannot go to a regular college or university for higher education.
As per NEP-2020 recommendations, in addition to four-year undergraduate courses, three-year undergraduate courses on CBCS pattern are available. Undergraduate degree courses available under CBCS are of 3 years duration with 148 credits. Honors degrees are awarded to students who earn 148 credits. At the same time, under NEP-2020, in an undergraduate degree course of 4 years duration, students get a major in the relevant discipline after completing 3 years. Students who have obtained 132 credits, who will obtain 162 credits by the time they complete the fourth year, will receive honors in the respective discipline.
