PhD: Opportunity to pursue PhD with fellowship up to Rs 44000

From session 2024-25, MMMUT will have several fellowship opportunities for researchers doing PhD. Every month Rs. 15 thousand to Rs. A fellowship of up to 43,750 will be awarded. A total of 48 seats will be given admission in MMMUT in this session. Out of these 27 researchers will be awarded MET Fellowship. Apart from this, 17 other researchers will be able to take admission in self finance mode. Apart from this, four researchers will be awarded fellowships under the Visveshwaraya scheme by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India.

Also started AICTE Fellowship
AICTE has also launched a doctoral fellowship scheme for researchers last week. In this, researchers who qualify for GATE will get Rs. 37 thousand will be given as fellowship and for the next three years Rs. 42 thousand per month will be given. They will also get Rs 15,000 as research contingency.

Many facilities in Visveshwaraya Yojana
Visveshwaraya Yojana is for researchers in Electronics, IT and Computer Science. There will be three full-time and one part-time PhD researchers. Full-time researchers for the first two years will receive Rs. 38,750 and for the next three years Rs. A fellowship of 43,750 will be awarded. Part-time research scholars on completion of their Ph.D. 3 lakhs will be given as a lump sum fellowship. Apart from this, Rs 1.20 lakh per year will be given as Research Contingency Grant. A separate award of Rs 1.50 lakh will be given for participation in international seminars.

Researchers benefit from only one scheme
Dean Research and Professional Practice Prof. Rakesh Kumar said that researchers will get the benefit of only one fellowship. Researchers admitted through GATE will get fellowship from AICTE. If any researcher taking admission from MET is holding university fellowship and is selected in Visvesvaraya Yojana, the fellowship will be discontinued and given to another self-financed researcher.

Fellowship to 4 students under Visveshwaraya scheme of IT Ministry
The application process for admission to Ph.D. Along with the university fellowship, this time there will also be an opportunity for fellowship from IT Ministry’s Visveshwaraya scheme and AICTE.
