Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday expressed confidence that the Indian athletes participating in the Olympics will make the country proud and live up to the expectations of 1.4 billion people. India is sending a contingent of around 120 athletes to the Paris Olympics and hopes that this time they will do better than the Tokyo Olympics. India won 7 medals at the Tokyo Olympics, including the gold medal won by Neeraj Chopra in javelin throw.
After meeting a large contingent of athletes participating in the Olympics, the Prime Minister posted on X, “Talked to our contingent going to Paris for the Olympics. I am confident that our athletes will give their best and make India proud. Their journey and success will be a blessing to 140 crore Indians. gives hope.
The delegation included Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, Minister of State for Sports Raksha Khadse and Indian Olympic Association President PT Usha. The Prime Minister shared photographs of himself with athletes and support staff, including badminton coach Pullela Gopichand and shooting sports high-performance director Pierre Beauchamp.
Modi also held virtual talks with Neeraj Chopra, who is aiming to defend his title in Paris, boxer Nikhat Zarin and two-time Olympic medalist shuttler PV Sindhu.
