Rohit Sharma’s record of five thousand runs as Indian captain: Indian captain Rohit Sharma achieved a special feat thanks to his superb form and joined another special club after his crucial innings against England in the ongoing T20 World Cup semi-final at the Providence Stadium. Against England, the ‘Hitman’ with the bat was once again on display and destroyed England’s bowling in the Powerplay. Rohit became the fifth Indian captain to score 5,000 runs in all formats (Rohit Sharma completed five thousand runs in all formats). After the end of his powerful innings of 57 runs, Rohit has scored 5,033 runs in all formats as the Indian captain.

Batsman Virat Kohli tops the list as Indian captain with 12,883 runs across all three formats. MS Dhoni, who has left a mark on the hearts of fans with his captaincy, is the second highest run-scorer as an Indian captain across all formats with 11,207 runs. Mohammad Azharuddin and Sourav Ganguly are second with 8,095 and 7,643 runs respectively. This situation was similar to what India saw against Australia. Virat Kohli lost his wicket early and Rishabh Pant returned without much impact.

After which once again Rohit showed his style in power hitting. His innings of 57 runs included six fours and two brilliant sixes. His second six in the T20 World Cup marked Rohit’s 50th century. Only former West Indies opener Chris Gayle (63) has managed to score more runs. His second six also helped Rohit score two consecutive half-centuries in the ongoing World Cup.

Adil Rashid created magic with his spin, breaking the crucial 73-run partnership between Rohit and Suryakumar Yadav and dismissing the Indian captain for 57 runs. In the 18th over, Hardik Pandya hit two consecutive sixes off Chris Jordan, after which the fast bowler dismissed the Indian vice-captain for 23 runs. On the very second ball, Jordan dismissed Shivam Dubey for a zero run. Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja’s superb performance in the last two overs saw India score 171 for the loss of 7 wickets in Guyana.
