T20 World Cup 2024: Uganda’s humiliating loss, Afghanistan badly crushed, Gurbaz-Zhadran shine

New Delhi. The 5th match of T20 World Cup 2024 was played between Uganda and Afghanistan. Afghanistan registered a great victory in this match. Uganda won the toss and elected to bowl first, which proved costly for them. Afghanistan scored 183 runs batting first. In the chase, Uganda were bowled out for just 58 runs. Thus Uganda suffered a humiliating defeat.

After losing the toss and coming to bat first, both the openers of the Afghanistan team batted brilliantly. Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran entered the field to bat first for the team. Gurbaz played a brilliant innings of 76 runs. So there Zadar scored 70 runs. There was a partnership of 154 runs between the two. Apart from this, no player could bat anything special. Najibullah scored 2 runs, Gulbuddin Naib scored 4 runs and Mohammad Nabi scored 14 runs. In this way, Afghanistan scored 183 runs in 20 overs. Captain Brian Masaba and Kosmas Kayewuta took 2 wickets each for Uganda.

Now it was Uganda’s turn to chase. Ronak Patel and Simon Sejaji, who came to open from Uganda, scored 4 runs each. Roger Mukasa scored 0, Riyat Ali Shah scored 11 runs and Robinson Obuya scored 14 runs. Apart from this, most of the players were flops. In this way the Ugandan team was all out in the run. Fazalhaq Farooqui bowled brilliantly from Afghanistan and took a total of 5 wickets.
