The look of New Delhi railway station is going to change, RLDA has made a strong plan

The face of New Delhi station, the main railway station of the national capital, is going to change. In fact, the Railway Land Development Authority (RLDA) has planned to start the redevelopment work of the New Delhi station from the Pahardganj side and it will be developed as a multi-modal transport hub in a multi-storey format. This will also reduce the traffic pressure in the Connaught Place area to a great extent.

What the officials said

According to RLDA officials, the contract was awarded for the multi-modal transport hub (MMTH) towards Parvatganj, an important component of the New Delhi railway station redevelopment project. The building will be connected to the railway station with city bus service on the ground floor, after which there will be a great relief to the passengers coming to the station by bus. Provision has been made for car and auto parking on 5 floors of the building and 9 floors will be used for railway offices.

Construction will be completed in 2 years

According to RLDA officials, the construction of this MMTH will be completed in 2 years which will facilitate the construction of other components of New Delhi Railway Station. Contracts will be invited soon for the main station building including air concourse and elevated road network. The scheme has been closely reviewed to minimize inconvenience to the traveling public in the process.

According to officials, the concourse above the track will now be single-storey and the roof will provide adequate daylight. Elevated road network i.e. construction of flyovers around the station will reduce congestion in Connaught Place and enable quick and easy access to the station. The project aims to transform the station into a modern, multi-modal transportation hub by connecting the railway station with City Bus, Blue Line Metro and Airport Express Metro.
