The star player was out because of the gold in the World Cup against India

Dhaka. The Indian cricket team won the ICC T20 World Cup title by defeating South Africa in the final. In the Super 8, India faced Afghanistan, Australia and Bangladesh. Team India won all the three matches. Bangladesh vice-captain Taskin Ahmed was not part of the playing eleven in the Super 8. He was reportedly dropped from the crucial match against India because he overslept and failed to board the team bus.

However, the fast bowler denied the claim and said that he was dropped due to a team combination. Bangladesh lost by 50 runs in a match played in Antigua’s North Sound on 22 June. The team made one change in this match and replaced Taskin with Zakir Ali. “I arrived a bit late but I reached the ground before the toss,” ESPNcricinfo quoted Taskin of Dhaka-based newspaper Ajkar Patrika as saying.

Taskin said, I reached the ground about 30 to 40 minutes before the toss. I could not board the team bus. The bus left the hotel at 8.35 am. I left for the field at 8:43. I almost reached the ground with the bus. It’s not that they didn’t choose me because I arrived late. I wasn’t going to play anyway.

Taskin returned to the playing eleven for Bangladesh’s next match against Afghanistan on 24 June. Taskin apologized for this but veteran all-rounder and former captain Shakib Al Hasan said the fast bowler’s late arrival made his selection difficult.
