On Wednesday, the Ministry of Education has canceled the UGC National Eligibility Test C UGC-NET June 2024 exam. The ministry said on Wednesday that the decision has been taken after receiving information about malpractices in the examination and the case has been handed over to the CBI. The ministry’s decision comes amid an ongoing controversy over alleged irregularities in the medical entrance exam NEET. What is UGC-NET Exam?
First of all you should understand that University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test is conducted for eligibility for Assistant Professor or Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor in all the Universities and Colleges of India. Eligibility for JRF and Assistant Professorship is determined based on candidate’s performance in Paper-I and Paper-II of UGC-NET. Candidates who qualify only for the post of Assistant Professor will then have to follow the recruitment rules of the respective Universities, Colleges or State Governments to become Assistant Professors.

Now when will the exam be conducted?
A senior education ministry official said the exam will be re-conducted, the details of which will be shared separately. Let us tell you that the exam was held in 317 cities across the country on Tuesday. About 81 percent of the over 11.21 lakh registered candidates appeared. UGC-NET is conducted twice every year (June and December).

Why was the exam cancelled?
Let us tell you that the exam was held on Tuesday and was canceled on Wednesday night. In fact, the UGC received some input from the National Cyber ​​Crime Unit of the Ministry of Home Affairs, which showed that there were malpractices in the UGC NET exam. Therefore, keeping in mind the importance of ensuring the sanctity of the examinations and protecting the interests of the students, the Ministry of Education has decided to cancel this examination.

What is NTA?
The National Testing Agency (NTA), established in November 2017 under the Indian Societies Registration Act, 1860, is an autonomous body that conducts multiple entrance examinations. The agency is headed by the Ministry of HRD, which is currently headed by former UPSC Chairman Pradeep Kumar Joshi.
